FAQ

Answers to common questions about USDT, wallets, security, the exchange service, and investing basics.

USDT Questions

What is USDT?

USDT (Tether) is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar, aiming to keep 1 USDT ≈ 1 USD, commonly used as a trading medium, for hedging, and for transfers.

Is USDT safe?

Stablecoins are not entirely risk-free. USDT carries reserve-transparency, de-peg, and regulatory risks. Use responsibly after understanding the risks; don’t treat it as completely risk-free.

TRC20 or ERC20 — which to choose?

TRC20 (Tron) has low fees and fast speed; ERC20 (Ethereum) has broad compatibility but higher fees. Always match the network on both ends — choosing wrong can cause loss of funds.

Wallet Questions

What’s the difference between hot and cold wallets?

A hot wallet is online and convenient for daily use; a cold wallet is offline and more secure, suited to long-term, larger holdings. A common approach is small amounts in a hot wallet, larger amounts in a cold wallet.

What if I lose my seed phrase?

The seed phrase is the only credential to recover a wallet. If lost with no backup, assets usually cannot be recovered. Back it up offline, in multiple places, and never screenshot, upload, or tell anyone.

Is keeping coins on an exchange safe?

Exchanges carry risks of insolvency, hacks, and freezes (Not your keys, not your coins). For long-term holding, self-custody is preferable — understand its responsibilities.

Security Questions

Someone is asking for my private key or seed phrase — what do I do?

Anyone asking for your private key or seed phrase is a scammer. LinkUp Crypto and any legitimate institution will never ask for them. Stop immediately and stay alert.

How do I spot a fake wallet site?

Verify the official domain, download from official channels, check SSL, beware of search ads and unknown links, and bookmark official sites. See the Security Center articles.

Exchange Service Questions

How is the exchange service priced?

A 3% fee per transaction, quoted transparently; network fees are separate. KYC verification is required.
